What is WGI?

WGI stands for Winter Guard International. They are the largest circuit for both winter guard and indoor percussion programs. More information is on their website at WGI.org.

Who can try out?

Anyone with an interest in percussion who falls between the ages of 14 and 22.

How much does the season cost?

This will vary season to season depending on the tour schedule. For 2014, we the tour fee will be no greater than $500. Members will be informed of a final cost before the conclusion of the last audition camp. Your tour fee covers your instrument, sticks, mallets, drumheads, shoes, travel, and lodging when we go out of state. It does not cover meals at any point during the season.

How many spots are available this season?

All of them! We want to have the best players available for our group. To ensure that we do, all veterans are required to audition just like everybody else. Nobody is ever guaranteed a spot just because of who he or she is or whom he or she study with.

What ensemble size is SCU looking for?

This varies by season. If you are interested, come out and see!

I’m a parent of an interested student, is there a way for me to be involved?

Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes. We can always use volunteers for a variety of things throughout the season. Sign up for our mailing list below to hear about volunteering opportunities!
